These beautiful 8000 foot mountains are located
2 hours
north east of Los Angeles. The temperatures are cool in the summer and exceptional education, adventure, and recreational
opportunities are available in Big Bear, Running Springs, Lake
Arrowhead, Sky Forest, and throughout the state and national parks. Horse back
riding, water sports, rock climbing, caving, and excellent astronomy viewing are

Some of the common
species of land mammals known to inhabit the these mountains include:
black bear, mountain lion, coyote, raccoon, beaver, California ground
squirrel and bob-cats. Aquatic vertebrates, other than fish, that have
been reported inhabiting-mountain creeks include: Pacific pond turtle,
two-striped garter snake, California slender salamander, western toad,
Pacific treefrog, and California treefrog.
